May 2012 Prayer Letter

May 2012

Dear Friends,

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” – Psalms 107:1
Repeated: I Chronicles 16:34 – Psalms 106:1 – Psalms 107:1 – Psalms 118:1 – Psalms 118:29 – Psalms 136:1

God is good all the time. All the time God is good! It is wise to be aware that, in good times and in bad times, God is always good. Also, God uses people like you to demonstrate His goodness by giving to and helping others. We are thankful that God has used you to help make our unique, missionary deaf ministry possible. “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account…. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:17, 19.

Thank You For Supporting Our Ministry – Through your prayers and support, Silent Word Ministries continues to function debt-free with sufficient funds to meet all present obligations. When I consider the SWM office building, the printing and office equipment, the materials produced, the outreach ministries conducted, the souls saved, the people trained, and our missionary team, I am again reminded that “God is good.” Clearly, this is God’s work, not ours!

We are excited that one of SWM’s soul-winning booklets has been translated into three languages for the countries of Burma and India (Tamil and Marathi languages). Also, a missionary in the Philippines called this week to say the Deaf people in his church are excited about learning the Bible in the new SWM Teaching & Training Bible Institute. Last week I had the privilege to send (at no charge) SWM materials to missionaries in two different countries to help them get started with deaf ministries. SWM’s free Deaf Bible Institute now has 935 students (241 are foreign). We have the Gospel available on our website in sixteen different languages. SWM Gospel DVDs have been distributed to over 33,000 people worldwide. You may not know Sign Language, but because of your gifts, many Deaf will hear in Heaven. SWM materials are being used around the world.

Thank You For Supporting SWM Missionaries – It is exciting to see them reaching into the many different ministries and countries to reach the Deaf for Christ. SWM specializes in helping deaf ministries, establishing new deaf ministries, teaching nationals how to minister to the deaf, and making many others aware of this great need. This year SWM missionaries plan to minister in the countries of Ukraine, Guatemala, Philippines, Brazil, and Argentina. They will preach in camps for Deaf young people and adults, distribute Gospel literature and DVDs to thousands from the USA and many foreign countries expected at the Deaf Nation World Expo in July, and conduct meetings for deaf ministries in local churches in other countries and here in the United States. Each of us who serve with SWM is supported as a missionary and is actively involved in missionary ministry. Our mission is to “Go into all the [Deaf] world.” Thank you for your regular financial support, one-time gifts, and prayers as an investment in these special evangelistic and training efforts. SWM missionaries are worthy of your support and prayers.

Health UpdatesTed Camp had successful double knee replacement surgery on March 19. Each day he continues to improve with therapy, and he is looking forward to speaking at the Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America in June. Don Baker, SWM Board member, had successful major back surgery on March 22. On March 31, SWM missionary, Eleanor Towner, was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, a severe infection, and a heart problem. She later underwent open heart surgery to replace a heart valve. At the time this letter is being written, her pneumonia is improving, and her kidneys are beginning to function properly again. Your special prayers are much appreciated.

For Deaf Souls,
