March 2014 Prayer Letter

March 2014

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Silent Word Ministries! It is a joy to share with you this report of God’s blessings.

On February 9, we conducted our annual SWM Board of Directors meeting. We emphasized to the board that SWM is People — a team of board members, missionaries, volunteers, and supporters like you, who see the need of reaching the Deaf world for Christ. None of us can do it by ourselves, but God uses each of us in our areas of expertise. “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not” (2 Corinthians 8:12). Thank you for investing what you “hath” in SWM!

SWM is People – Exciting news! The SWM Board of Directors voted to approve new missionaries Jeremy and Jenna Ring, (sent by Blessed Hope Baptist Church, Pastor Percy Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada) to reach the Deaf of Canada for Christ. In his words, By God’s grace and with His help, I want to spread the good news of salvation to the Deaf World.” The Rings live in, and will minister primarily to the people of Canada. SWM is unique because it specializes in teaching and training people to reach the Deaf for Christ worldwide. The Silent Word Mission Board now has 12 missionary families serving the Lord through deaf church planting, marketplace evangelism and soul-winning, special meetings for the deaf, international missions trips, training national pastors, and more.

SWM is People – In 2013, the Ministries of SWM touched people in many ways, including Bible-based literature to help in all areas of deaf ministries (over 330 SWM titles), the Deaf Bible Institute (correspondence, 996 enrolled), Fantastic Saturdays and D-Days, Retreats, ASLI Sign Language Training, SWM International, a local deaf ministry, and much more. SWM also provides free tracts, Bible courses, and a newspaper, especially for the Deaf.

SWM is People – In 2013, volunteers assisted with the printing, literature binding, video production and duplication, maintenance and grounds, mailouts, and so much more. Last year one couple moved to Trenton for the purpose of volunteering at SWM. All are greatly appreciated!

SWM is People – In 2013, there were 703 salvation decisions reported including all areas of our ministry. It may surprise you to know that since 1993, the total number of tracts, booklets, Bible courses, manuals, and Bible lessons printed at SWM is 6,608,915. SWM literature is produced to help people reach and teach people for Christ. Again, SWM ended 2013 debt free. We were blessed at the end of the year with a special gift that helped us purchase a much-needed folding machine and to upgrade an older computer. It is our policy to only build or buy as the Lord provides. We are thankful for churches and individuals who give so we can go. “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit (teach – with voice or Sign Language) thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).

SWM is You Please review the missionary reports on the back of this page. Pray for their many areas of service. They are worthy of your support and special gifts. Finally, enclosed is a pamphlet, You are Unique,” which I hope will be a special blessing to you and others around you. SWM prints over 60 pamphlets which are available free to you, our supporters. Also, churches may contact us for multiple copies for distribution or to place in church bulletins.
